How to Create an Online Catalog with the Right Currency
A customer should not have to guess which currency a product price uses. Choosing the right catalog currency makes prices clearer and helps an international storefront feel intentional rather than unfinished.
Choose the country your business operates from
During MyKatalog setup, select your business country alongside the WhatsApp number customers should use. Nigeria is selected by default, but businesses can choose from international calling codes and countries.
MyKatalog uses that country to suggest the matching catalog currency, which can also be adjusted later in Settings.
Understand what changing currency does
Changing the catalog currency changes the symbol and currency used to display product prices. It does not convert or rewrite the numeric amounts you previously entered.
For example, changing a catalog from NGN to SAR does not calculate new Saudi Riyal prices automatically. Review each product amount yourself before sharing the updated storefront.
Add location and contact context
Currency answers one customer question, while location answers another. Add a city, state, area, or customer-facing business location so shoppers understand where you operate.
Keep your WhatsApp number in international format so local and international customers can reach the correct account.
Review the storefront before sharing
Open the public storefront and check several product prices, options, images, the business location, and the WhatsApp order flow. This catches incorrect currency choices before customers see them.
MyKatalog supports international catalog display, while Pro pricing is shown automatically as NGN 1,000 per month in Nigeria or $3 per month outside Nigeria.
Key takeaways
Choose the correct country and catalog currency during setup.
Changing currency does not convert existing product amounts.
Add location and an internationally formatted WhatsApp number.
Preview the storefront before sharing it with customers.
Common questions
Does MyKatalog convert my product prices automatically?
No. Changing the catalog currency changes how prices are displayed but does not convert the numeric product amounts.
Can I change my country or currency later?
Yes. You can update both settings, but you should review your product amounts after changing currency.
